So last Saturday we took a road trip to Southlake and Grapevine for a bit of shopping.

It was a great day trip for the three of us. Luke was no problem at all. He did start to get fussy towards the end of the day, but our experience was overall very good and fun. Also, much needed as it was a great way for Douglas to start a string of three solid days off from work.

Douglas has been working these insane shifts at work because they are doing an orientation kind of training for FOUR rookies at the same time in prep to go out on runs with a partner, and there are currently only two guys qualified to take them out on runs. Douglas is one of them and they can only every have one other person with them at a time. They’ve been doing this rotational schedule of working for eight hours and then off for eight hours, and it’s running Douglas ragged.  His two trainees alternate their time with him, so basically he works twice as many hours as those two guys, and practically everyone else who has an 8 hour shift once per day. And here Douglas is with a schedule that has him working from 7a-3p and then going back later that night from 11p-7a and then after that from 3p-11p and starting the vicious cycle all over again. He pretty much only sleeps and eats here. I hardly see him, unless I watch him sleep. And forget about having any help around the house. It isn’t his fault; he wants to help with housework and with Luke, but he just couldn’t seem to catch a break. BUT He has the whole day off tomorrow AND the schedule goes back to normal starting on Sunday where he’ll only have to work his normal 7a-3p shift.

Also, Luke has been sick with a fever and ear infection the past couple of days. Poor little guy. He seems better today. I hate it when he doesn’t feel good.

Anyway, back to our shopping trip. I got some fabulous new black shoes for my concert black attire and church. F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. Total shoe porn, I’m telling you. Here’s a link to them.

I also got some new jeans. Before my pregnancy I was a size two. And I’ve done very little since then to lose much weight. I mean, I tried a bit, I guess, but you know the saying about best laid plans and all… Well, this happened a few weeks ago when I was trying to put those plans into action.

Totally bit the pavement before I even left our complex to go for a run. Ouch! It just looks like a scrape, but I kept having knee pain and went to the doc and had an MRI done. Torn meniscus, but not severe enough for surgery. I ended up just getting a corticosteriod shot. Again, OUCH! It hurt worse than it had been before the injection, but once it started to work, the swelling and pain went down.

I’m still hobbling around a bit, and it did make the shopping trip a little bit hard for me with the knee pain. Back to jeans… Apparently, somehow when I wasn’t paying attention or even trying to, I lost enough weight to fit into size 0!!! Don’t know how that happened. I’m willing to bet it’s the breastfeeding or maybe it was just that brand of jeans that maybe they are cut differently or something, but still… SIZE ZERO, BABY!

Also for this super cute and sexy green bikini. Took this pic to show off the print of the fabric and to show how fabulous I look! Sorry, but didn’t get the top too well in the picture. I was trying to take the picture of myself without standing in the bathroom at the mirror or striking some weird ass pose to get a good picture… LOL It’s a halter style top, and the center thingy is a heart, just like on the bottoms at the sides. So… BAM 11 WEEKS POSTPARTUM!

Much improved since this one at almost 3 weeks postpartum.

Compared to my 8 wk pg belly…

Super proud of myself.

We also got Luke his Easter clothes and some things for Douglas as well.

It was just a really good day for us. :)

My fever is 103.1.

Just took 800mg of Ibuprofen and I’m about to go take a cool bath while Douglas goes out to get something for my electrolytes. We may end up going back to the ER if we can’t get my fever down.

A WARNING TO ALL

This is why it pays to have a EMT as a hubby. We were in bed last night & he woke me up b/c I was making a noise when I was breathing. He packed us all up & took me to the ER because I’ve got pneumonia. The tub of VICKs says don’t put IN nostrils, which I didn’t, but APPARENTLY putting it under your nose is just as big of a no-no—Which they should put on the container because my mother has done this to me since birth and her mother probably did the same for her. The doc said don’t put it ANYWHERE where you can accidentally inhale the petroleum particles into your lungs—because the body cannot get rid of it and IT’LL GIVE YOU PNEUMONIA. Just a warning to everyone else out there. I’m home and already feeling tons better.
